Snow hits this part of Serbia! Broken branches, uprooted trees: These are the first photos
Yesterday afternoon and during the evening, the first significant snowfall was reported on Mt. Zlatibor in western Serbia, but despite more than 20 centimeters of snow cover in higher areas, the traffic is taking place smoothly.
The director of the local utility company, Srdjan Pantovic, confirmed that its crews responded on time and that there have been no disruptions on the roads.
"The snow started falling yesterday afternoon, there's over 20 centimeters in higher areas, but there were no problems when it comes to the functioning of traffic. The utility company immediately went to the field and all the roads are passable," Pantovic told RINA.
The teams were also present in the most remote villages, which is part of their regular winter work.
"We go out to the field every day during the winter season. Last night we went in every direction and the situation is stable. We have sufficient quantities of aggregates to spread (on road surfaces) and a sufficient number of vehicles for clearing (the snow), so there are no problems with maintenance," he added.
The November snow did not cause major problems in the territory of the city of Uzice either, except that in some villages branches and trees got broken, but no roads were cut off or blocked.
"All roads are passable, the teams are on the ground and are working on clearing the broken branches. The supply of water, electricity and heating is normal and there are no major problems," said Stefan Maksimovic, assistant to the mayor of Uzice.
