President of the Serbian National Assembly Ana Brnabic is today participating today in a GLOBSEC forum that is being held in Belgrade, dubbed, "BELTALKS: Belgrade Economic Talks".

Brnabic will speak at one of the panels that are part of this high-level forum.

The panel will be held at the Hyatt Hotel in Belgrade starting at 15:40, the Serbian Assembly has announced.

According to the organizer, GlOBSEC, BELTALKS: Belgrade Economic Talks is dedicated to "strengthening cooperation and competitiveness across Europe - through inclusive dialogue and practical collaboration, BELTALKS aims to enhance policy coherence and competitiveness, offering new opportunities to align with EU’s Growth Plan and Clean Industrial Deal."

The forum will bring together more than 150 international participants this year, including high-ranking EU officials, government representatives, business leaders and experts from the EU and candidate countries (for EU membership).

Discussions will focus on key economic challenges and opportunities in the region, with an emphasis on practical cooperation in a rapidly changing environment.

GLOBSEC is organizing this event in cooperation with the British, French, and Italian embassies in Belgrade, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and Friends of Europe.

GLOBSEC states that it is a global think tank dedicated to advancing security, prosperity and sustainability in Europe and around the world.

As for the choice of Belgrade, the organization's website says that in recent years, "the Serbian capital has emerged as the Western Balkans' economic center of gravity, attracting significant European investment and becoming home to a growing number of international companies. This economic transformation has made Belgrade a natural platform for dialogue on Europe's competitive future. Yet the city's rise has also drawn attention from other global actors, Russia and China have expanded their economic footprint, creating pressure on a region whose economic future and security fundamentally depend on deeper integration with the EU."

GLOBSEC CEO Daniel Brown said that the Western Balkans is "part of Europe's competitive future, and that BELTALKS shows that European institutions and the economy stand behind that belief through continued presence and partnership."

The BELTALKS conference addresses challenges such as, "how can the region diversify away from Russian gas dependence while modernizing energy infrastructure," and, "what role should regional initiatives like the Common Regional Market play in preparing for EU membership."
