More information has emerged concerning a tragedy that happened on the first day of the New Year in Belgrade, when a 28-year-old woman, M.P., and a 30-year old man, M.M., died. The new details suggest that the woman was the victim of strangulation.

Telegraf.rs has learned that the young woman was found tied up, dressed in a negligee that looked like a Santa Claus costume, while strangulation marks were observed on her neck. According to a source close to the investigation, it is believed that the man choked her during intercourse, which could have caused her death.

"Her hands and feet were tied which left marks, strangulation marks were also visible on her neck, and her face was blue. It is suspected that the man at some point choked her forcefully and suffocated her, but the cause of death will be officially known after the autopsy has been completed," a source close to the investigation has told Telegraf.rs.

The source also told Telegraf.rs that once the paramedics arrived at the apartment, the man was pacing around in distress, asking if the woman was alive, and when they told him she had died, he immediately turned around and jumped into his own death from a window on the eighth floor apartment.

"They were in a relationship for four years, the woman was not a prostitute," the source told Telegraf.rs.

According to them, two piles of a powdery substance suspected to be cocaine, as well as cash and various sexy toys, were found on a table.

Residents in the multi-storey building in Cvijiceva Street in Belgrade are still shocked by the tragedy that happened there.

The apartment they were staying was rented out on a daily basis, and according to the neighbors, other guests were also staying there before the incident.

"We were celebrating the New Year. Everything was lovely, and then the ambulance sirens interrupted the celebrations. We could not believe what was happening in the building," said one of the neighbors.

The investigation into the deaths is being conducted by the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, which ordered an autopsy to be performed on the woman's body.

The official cause of death will be known afterwards, revealing whether the death occurred due to a drug overdose, strangulation, or some other factor.
