Minister Mesarovic speaks after Joint Commission meeting: Cooperation between Serbia and Hungary to intensify
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic today thanked Hungary for the support given to Serbia in its EU integration bid, and for Hungary's principled position regarding Kosovo and Metohija, as well as for the help in the further economic development of our country.
In her address after the signing of several documents during the session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Serbia and Hungary, she thanked her Hungarian colleagues for their selfless support towards the further economic development of Serbia and announced that economic cooperation between the two countries will intensify.
She also announced that she will travel to Budapest on March 19, where she will present our economic potential to the Hungarian business community.
"All this is happening thanks to the relationship between our two leaders, Mr. (Aleksander) Vucic and Mr. (Viktor) Orban, who have established such a strong strategic partnership. Large infrastructural projects are being developed, and our president shared with the public that freight rail traffic has started (on the new Belgrade-Budapest railway), which will greatly contribute to faster exchange of goods and stronger economic cooperation," she said.
Mesarovic added that today, the officials discussed ways to speed up tourist traffic, make border crossings open around the clock, reduce traffic on some crossings and improve transport connections.
"Hungary's support regarding our truckers, where there have been problems, is important to us. Minister Szijjarto said that he will support us in providing our drivers with temporary visas so that they can stay longer in the Schengen countries," she said.
When asked how much economic forums and agreements in the field of economy contribute to the cooperation between the two countries, Mesarovic replied that such meetings are extremely important.
"The whole day today will be very intense, there is no doubt that all the activities we have committed to will in the coming period affect economic cooperation. It's very important to open (another) border crossing so that transport of goods goes faster," said the minister.
Mesarovic also pointed out that she will make an effort to organize meetings like the one in Belgrade today more often, whether theseare business forums, fairs or promotional activities.
