Historic visit after 18 years: Swiss President Guy Parmelin arrives in Belgrade, welcomed by Ivica Dacic

First Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic shared on his Instagram account a message of welcome to President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin, who today arrived on a historic visit to Serbia.

After 18 years, Belgrade is once again hosting a Swiss president, something that Ivica Dacic used to highlight the importance of strengthening diplomatic ties.

"Historical moment for our relations"

Dacic shared photos with the visiting president and stressed that he is extremely pleased to welcome him.

"It is my honor and pleasure to welcome to Belgrade the president of Switzerland, Guy Parmelin, who is on a two-day official visit to Serbia, the first after 18 years," Dacic wrote on his official account.

New era of cooperation

The minister added that he is confident the talks will open new doors for both countries. According to him, the key goals are improving political dialogue at the highest level, comprehensive cooperation that will benefit citizens of both countries, and strengthening a friendship that has lasted for decades.

Dacic concluded his post with a heartfelt message, "Dear President, welcome to Serbia!"
