Prosecution orders police to enter and search apartment and office of military analyst Aleksandar Radic
Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), by order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, searched the apartment and business premises of military analyst Aleksandar Radic, Telegraf.rs unofficially learned on Monday afternoon.
According to the same source, Aleksandar Radic will be interviewed by the police because of suspicion that he participated in the organized spread of fake news and causing panic among members of the public.
The investigation is focused on the events of March 15, 2025, when Radic was among the first to accuse state authorities of allegedly using a "sonic cannon" against protesters who had gathered in Belgrade.
Suspected coordinated action and false information
Competent authorities suspect that Radic, in prior agreement with other persons, started the systematic dissemination of unverified and incorrect information about the use of this tool, with the aim of convincing the public and protesters that they were exposed to its effects.
All relevant state authorities have previously explicitly and repeatedly denied that such or similar technical means were used on that day, or on any other occasion.
The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade announced at the end of the working week that the investigation found concrete evidence indicating that the entire operation was planned and organized in advance.
According to the prosecution, the goal was to carry out a political and media attack on the state and its institutions by:
Simulation on the ground: Street simulation of the effects of the use of a sonic cannon during the protest itself.
Media support: Organized dissemination of statements and spins in the public, in which the detained analyst is suspected of having actively participated.
Four groups of persons to be prosecuted
Chief Public Prosecutor Miodrag Markovic announced that the investigation will cover and prosecute a total of four groups of connected persons.
"The investigation does not refer only to those who spread fake news, but to the entire network," sources from the prosecutor's office say.
In addition to organizers and and those who carried out the street simulation itself and those who provided media logistics by spreading misinformation, individuals who organized follow-up medical examinations for citizens who claimed to have felt consequences on their health will also be under investigation.
The investigation indicates that the alleged health problems were actually the result of spending the whole day in the streets shouting, chanting, and whistling, rather than of the effect of a non-existent weapon.
