The newspaper reminds that protests have been in effect since February against Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, whose resignation is requested by the opposition leader Zoran Zaev, after having learned of the spying and monitoring of 20,000 people, including journalists, opposition politicians and ambassadors.

The German daily writes that the head of the Serbian Military Security Agency, Petar Cvetkovic blamed Western powers for supporting the project of a Greater Albania and said,that Belgrade had warned the Macedonian leader of possible attacks by militant Albanians.

In Skopje, Gruevski spoke of victory, claiming that the police action against an Albanian group, prevented the killing of 8,000 people, writes "Die Welt", assessing it's obviously a very strong exaggeration and a sign that the government in Skopje wants to use it for internal political purposes.

Noting that Kosovo and Albania are for full integration into the European Union and that Serbia, as a candidate for membership in the EU and Bulgaria as an EU member, always have in mind Brussels' perspective, the thesis that the EU is an indispensable factor of stability in the Balkans could be, in the case of Macedonia more than just an empty phrase.
