Programming as a profession is very popular. However, this area requires more skilled personnel, while the fair sex still accounts for a small part of the programmers.

Veselin Jevrosimovic, owner of Comtrade, wrote in his column the "informer" this week about this topic - women in the world of information technology. Continue reading to see what he had to say about it.

VESELIN JEVROSIMOVIC: The smallest computer in the world is smaller than a grain of rice!

"When I talked about the action a few months ago" the programming time "that has been successfully implemented across the globe, I pointed out that it is our obligation to provide chances to youth to get involved in the digital age and IT education on time. Only they - I wrote then - who have the necessary knowledge and skills, with a clear developed sense of innovation and entrepreneurship, will be able to thrive and succeed in such a world. This is both an opportunity and an essential need.

Veselin Jevrosimovic: Scientists have created a cloth that can generate electricity!

By 2020, the US alone will create about a million and a half new jobs in the IT industry, while some other industries will completely disappear. An additional problem, which is in question here, is insufficient and uneven representation of women in the IT industry. Although occupying more than half of the total number of highly qualified jobs, women in technology make up only 24% of employees. It is necessary to change this, and there I see a chance for a well-devised strategy and planned work.

In the world there are already organizations that are actively engaged in promoting greater representation of the fairer sex in the IT industry, and in motivating and educating girls of school age. The most famous "Women in Technology" , which became a kind of generic term for any type of organized help for ladies whose careers are related to IT.

There is a movement, "girls who are programming" (Girls Who Code), which provides inspiration and a means to engage girls in talent development related to technology. The main goal is to create a new model of education for computer science, with a particular emphasis on robotics, web design and development of mobile solutions.More specifically, all those skills that will in the near future lead to greater competitiveness and - I repeat for the umpteenth time - a chance to export knowledge and intelligence to the global market.
