Although the American musician Bob Dylan escaped punishment for his controversial statements to the "Rolling Stone"  magazine, that "blacks can sense a racist just as Jews can  a Nazi, and Serbs Croats, " this was re-discussed at the court in Paris.

At a court hearing in Paris, the discussion based on the charges against the publisher of the French edition of the magazine "Rolling stone ", Michel Birnbaum lasted four hours according to "Vecernji List".

Birnbaum was in court yesterday, according to "Vecernji", and defended himself by claiming that Dylan was an artist and poet, and his words, even those in the controversial interview, were a kind of poetry, while his lawyer incorporated, among other things, on the verdict of the Hague Tribunal on the account of mutual complaints of Croatia and Serbia on genocide.

The accused French publisher of the "Rolling Stone" revealed another interesting detail - he said that Ivo Josipovic, while he was president of the Croatia, tried to persuade Dylan to come in for an interview or either apologize or otherwise smooth the impugned statement.

Birnbaum added that he too should have been invited to that meeting, but Dylan refused to participate in it, and since then nothing has happened, says the Zagreb paper.

The French court will adjudicat on lawsuits against the magazine, in which the rocker offended Croats on June 16, 2012. A French lawyer of Croatian descent,  who filed a suit on behalf of the Representatives of Croatian higher education institutions and communities of France (CRICCF), Ivan Jurasinovic said he was  "happy because this is the first time in France that someone must justify themselves before the court because he offended Croats. The preliminary investigation was opened in December 2013, and in April 2014 the pre-investigative court decided not to file an indictment against Dylan, but against the publisher Birnbaum,as explained by saying that the musician did not authorize the publication of the interview in French, but only in the American edition, but the responsibility lies with the French publisher.

"Let it be a lesson to others", said Jurasinovic after the hearing, in which he expected Dylan to appear as a witness to explain what he meant by his statement.

Otherwise, the charges against the American singer-songwriter were filed in 2013 on the basis of the French anti-discrimination laws for "public insult and inciting hatred" towards Croats.

In the interview published in 2012, the rocker said in an interview with the magazine: "If you have slave running through your blood or are a descent of the Ku Klux Klan, black people can sense that. It remains to this day. Just as Jews can sense Nazi blood, or as Serbs can sense Croat blood."

The Croatian association in France is seeking symbolic damages in the amount of one euro and more importantly, we ask that  Dylan's statements be condemned as an incitement to hatred, and that it be clearly is published in the magazine.
