The newspaper reminds that one million Austrians spend their summer holidays each year on the Croatian coast, and Austria is the largest foreign investor in this Balkan country.
"Kronen Zeitung" indicates that the rate of unemployment in Croatia is 20 percent, that was carried out by a mass mailing of early retirement without the reduction of pension, in order to stop the rise in unemployment.
The paper states that the Croatian debt is about 90 percent of GDP and that the country's bureaucracy and judiciary makes companies and investors' lives a living hell.
Also, Croatia has the lowest rate of graduate students of Universities in Europe, and at the same time excessive taxes and living expenses, as well as an economy that has been in recession for the past six year, only managed by Greece in the EU.
Concerns of the European Commission is thus more than justified, estimates "Kronen Zeitung, which adds that reforms are necessary, but which can not be expected from the current government because upcoming parliamentary elections are expected for January.
- I'm optimistic and I do not believe that Croatia will experience the Greek scenario - said Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic during a visit to Vienna.
She said that a good sign is that the economic growth is positive again.
- We are recovering albeit slowly - said Grabar-Kitarovic.
