The American intelligence agency FBI in 2011 warned of Aden Demirovic, and marked him as a terrorist threat to the Balkans, as well as one of those who pull the strings in the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The flagship of the masjid, a community performing religious rites in one place "Tawhid", which belongs to the faction Nusretovaca, currently the most influential radical Islamic community in western Europe.
Professor of the Faculty of Security Zoran Dragisic believes that there is no doubt that Serbia is exposed to the threat of terrorism.
- The threat is obvious, and it is indesputable, it is important that this awareness exists with the state authorities that are following developments on the terrorist scene and doing many operational things. The fact is that there are Islamists in Serbia, but they are well monitored and covered.
Demirovic was arrested in 2014 in Vienna for to the recruitment of young people for jihad in Serbia, and was also closely associated with the group that is responsible for recruiting Sabina Selimovic (15) and Semkra Kešinović (16), who fled from the house to fight for the Islamic state.
- From Serbia, 30 people went to fight for an Islamic state, but alot more went through Austria and Germany, and many were killed. Here there is room for recruitment and we can not prevent that. There is an urgent need to stop the spread of radical Islamic ideology among young people - said Dragisic.
Otherwise, what is most interesting is that Adam Demirovic was close to Abid Podbicanin, who was considered to be the most dangerous terrorist in Serbia. Abid is a religious teacher from Novi Pazar and joined the Islamic state and war in Syria, but his followers were arrested in 2014 and accused of training and sending Wahhabis in war and preparing terrorist actions in the Balkans.
