Local Presevo Red Cross official Ahmet Halimi said that between 6 and 7 thousand people, "maybe more," arrived in a column moving from Miratovac in the past 24 hours.

He said that the Red Cross was ready for the winter and had started "a program of securing housing containers."

Refugees stay in the reception center in Presevo briefly - to register and rest shortly, while "some continue toward Belgrade and Serbia's northern borders immediately," Tanjug said.

According to the data published earlier, more than 1,200 people pass through the center each day.

Some refugees have also been entering Serbia via the border with Bulgaria, but much fewer compared to the number of those crossing from Macedonia.

Serbia has opened reception centers near its northern and western borders with Hungary and Croatia, in Sombor and Sid, and a temporary camp in Kanjiza, but refugees go there "in much smaller numbers than to Presevo."

Their end destination is Germany and Scandinavian countries.
