- My philosophy is living with nature, without making garbage. I found all of that in this village and my coming here, as radical as it sounds, did not happen during night - said Nikola Borić, who quit his well-paid job and went to live like a hermit

He lives like a hermit, without internet, electricity, water.

The village of Kokočak in the Papuk National park is almost non-existent on the map. There were just 5 people living there up until recently.

Then, Nikola came to this forest and started making his home, which surprised everybody. Even bigger surprise was when he announced that he will not have electricity and that he does not need water, internet, television, nor radio or other people.

The biggest surprise stemmed from the fact that he gave away his material possessions to his friends. He still had just enough money to buy the land for his shack form natural elements where he would enjoy "the inner peace".

- My philosophy is living with nature, without making garbage. I found all of that in this village and my coming here, as radical as it sounds, did not happen during night. Money was never of importance to me, even though it easily came to me. Simply, I would like to dedicate myself to nature and achieve a full circle of life. I would like to be a shepherd -  said Nikola, who won a streak of gold medals on World Championships and Olympic games.

Three years ago, when he was searching for his inner peace he stumbled upon an advertisement and by going after it he came to the village of Kokočak.

Right then, Nikola knew that  this place was going to be his piece of heaven.

He said that he has been around the world and he was treated everywhere like a king, but he never had the opportunity to drink clean water from the stream, for example.

While inspecting the land that was for sale, he took out the sleeping net and spent days sleeping there.

He knew that he would come back one day.

When he came back to Turkey, where he was the head coach of their national athletic team, he gave away the company worth million Euro to his business associate.

- Material things have no worth in my life. Life in Kokočak became my biggest challenge. I do not have any plans, everything is the same to me, now I can have the idea to  go to the North Pole. The only thing I know is that I have to gather the wood for for tomorrow because I do not have them anymore, and that is all - claims Nikola, laughing.

In his career, he said, he reached the summit. He said that he climbed "the Mont Everest" in athletics and that anything else would just be a repetition.

- I love, I adore my coaching job, but, simply, I lost motivation to work and repeat all the successes - said Nikola.

Of all the civilization properties Nikola to Kokočak drove only a car, Lada Niva.

Without it it is virtually impossible to reach his shack. Apart from that, he brought an old  cellphone which he intends to "throw in the river" and something to clear out the woods.

While he was building the shack, he used to sleep on some hay next to a big barrel he later turned into a stove.

- When it started snowing, I did not go into the village for 7 days. My friends were trying to reach me on my cellphone, but all my batteries went out. When they finally came to me, they found me sitting next to a warm stove, smiling. It was strange to me that they were so afraid for me - said Nikola.

He did not even bring a book with him into the wild, and he said that he enjoys "that he thinks of nothing".

His only company is a newly-found cat he simply calls - the Cat.

- Everything you see here is mine, the land, the trees, I got the oak planks from a  120-year-old house and the bricks from my neighbors. I do not have TV, internet, I charge my cellphone at my neighbors' house and for the first time I am truly happy - said Nikola.
