Police car blocked the tram's path and the officers came inside and surrounded the man so that he could not escape. They negotiated with him for 5 minutes - says one of the passenger for the "Jutarnji list" news agency.

One of the beaten passengers was just a teenage girl.

- The left side of her face was completely in bruises. She was bleeding from the nose. The second injured passenger did not wish to come out until the ambulance came. He was just sitting and crying. The third man was bleeding from his ear. It is sad that things like this happen in the middle of the day - said another passenger from the tram.

The arrested man is facing charges of disturbing the public order and peace.

He will also face additional charges once the medical reports are delivered.
