According to the research published by journal Elife, among the tallest people of Europe are the Dutch men and Latvian women. The average Dutch is 183cm tall, and the average Latvian women is 170cm tall.

The research conducted in Canada, were presented in Manchester on the European science forum. Serbs, as a nation, are among the top 10 tallest nations in the world.

We have the tallest women in the region. First place on the world scale are for Latvians, second Dutch and the third Estonians.

Iran and South Korea save made sudden progress, because their height increased by 16-20cm from 1914.

On the other hand, Americans recorded a significant drop. They had the third tallest men in the world in 1914, and forth women. Now they are at 37th and 42nd place.

British are taller by 11 cm, and not the average height is 178 for males, and 164 for females.

One of the scientists that participated in the research Madzit Azadi told for the BBC that genetics is most influential for growth, but it does not explain the changes in average heights.

Azadi points out that the changes are affected by environment and the life conditions, some of them that stand out are quality died, health care and sanitation.

Good diet of pregnant women is also one of the prerequisites for growth of newborns.

The shortest women lives on Guatemala, their average height was 140cm in 1914, and today their average doesn't go over 150cm.
