GREAT WHITE SHARK BUTCHERED DAMJAN IN ADRIATIC SEA: Confession of the man who survived the beast attack at Vis island

- Taking in consideration that these animals usually live in depths over 1.000 meters, danger lurks for them in shallow Adriatic sea, they can get washed up on the shore and die - said the institute.

In order to ensure a safe exit from the Adriatic Sea, we invite all who saw them to take a picture or snapshot, record the direction of their movement and the time of observations.

Despite its size, Sperm whales are harmless to humans if they are not converging. Since the animals are probably exhausted, disoriented and upset because they are in very shallow water, please do not approach them and do not haunt them in order not to cause them to accidentally get stranded and their death - appeal the institute experts.

Experts of the Institute on their website state that the Sperm whales rarely appear in the Adriatic, mainly in the deep southern part and in the vicinity of the Strait of Otranto.

- We just got out of the water when we noticed something strange on the surface. It was around 18:30 hrs when we first saw one, and then the other two whales, each around 15 meters long. Incredible sight is to see those giant animals. They were around a mile away west from Rovinj, near the lighthouse st Ivan in the open sea. It is gorgeous watching them enjoy, we were only 10 meters away from them - said the diver Darko.

Last mass stranding of Sperm whales in Adriatic sea was recorded on 11.12.2009 near city Viesta on the Gargano Peninsula (Italy), where seven whales died and in 12.09.2014 near the city Vasto (Italy), where three out of seven whales died.
