Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the resolution of Parliament of the European Union which is directed against Russian media and said that Europe is trying to "teach" Russia democracy, Russian media reported.

PUTIN STRONGLY WARNS: We will neutralize any threat, including NATO

Earlier today, the European Parliament passed a resolution on the fight against Russian media like Sputnik and RT (Russia Today).

The authors of the resolution are equating the fight against Russia with the resistance that provides a terrorist group Daesh and call the members of EU to increase the funding of anti-propaganda projects.

Russian President congratulated the Sputnik and RT on the effective operations.

- Resolution of the European Parliament is an obvious sign of the degradation of Western society's vision of democracy - Putin said.

He added that he hoped that common sense will overcome and there will be no restrictions concerning the work of the Russian media.
