The joint police exercise of elite police units from Northern Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo was held in Skopje, where they reportedly showed their operational capabilities in three situations when these units intervened in preventing activities related to the fight against organized crime. The exercise was held under the title "The Flash of the Western Balkans". We recall that Croatian forces expelled Serbs from Western Slavonia in the Operation "Flash".

So-called Interior Minister of the temporary Pristina institutions Ekrem Mustafa, who attended a joint tactical-demonstration exercise "The Flash of the Western Balkans", said that the exercise showed the readiness of the units to confront the different situations of possible threat to the security of citizens and shows the readiness of Skopje, Tirana, and Pristina to cooperate.
- Cooperation in certain areas reflects excellent relations in the political plane, for which our host Spasovski takes the credits. As a result of this cooperation, our ministries, in addition, our police, among other things, limits the scope of the of cross-border crime, discouraging criminals in general - said Mustafa, the statement read.
He said that agreements and memorandums of cooperation were signed.
Minister of Internal Affairs of Northern Macedonia, Oliver Spasovski, said that he is proud of promoting this activity, which contributes to the preservation of peace and security in the region.
- A joint exercise highlighted a good message of regional cooperation. Together we can build a network of cooperation in establishing the capabilities of special units - said Minister Spasovski.
Deputy Interior Minister Rovena Voda praised the professionalism of the three police during the exercise.
She emphasized that cooperation in the field of European integrations has been intensified and that this cooperation in joint development in the fight against organized crime should be more intensive.
However, the name of the exercise - "The Flash of the Western Balkans" awakes bad memories among Serbs, because one of the operations of Croatian forces, during the persecution of Serbs from Western Slavonia, was called "Flash".
