CORRECTION: This is the real truth about Zdravko Bumbulovic and Diamond Princess

On February 18th 2020. Telegraf published the story about Zdravko Bumbulovic, a young man who was allegedly a member of the Diamond Princess cruise ship's crew, and who spent more than ten days quarantined on the ship docked in Japan, as it was suspected that some of its passengers got infected by coronavirus.

This story turned out to be false.

According to the analisys of the fact checking portal Raskrinkavanje.ba, the headline and false parts of this article were corrected.

In their analisys, Raskrinkavanje found out that mr Bumbulovic was at first, claiming he was a victim of an identity theft and fraud, but at the end it turned out he made the whole story up.

"They created the false e-mail adress, took my old photos from the Facebook and send the story to the media. I am not a part of that cruisers crew for 4 years now. All photos and stories published are more then 4 years old. They sent all this to the media, gave false statements", claimed Bumbulovic.

In the story originaly published, which turned out to be false, the alleged Zumbulovic told the story about his experience in the quarantine on the Diamond Princess ship.

Bumbulović said that he is in isolation on the cruise ship and that he is waiting for the results of the test for the coronavirus, known as Covid-19.

Since it was established that he spoke to the journalists of Nezavisne novine and Dnevni avaz about his stay on the Diamond Princess cruise ship and his return home, and then denied these allegations by phone to them and other portals, Bumbulović's claims about unnamed people who stole his identity and invented everything for the media are questionable.

Further more, Dnevni avaz sent to Raskrinkavanja editorial office recordings of both telephone conversations with Bumbulović. It is evident from the recordings that it is the same person.

Raskrinkavanje also contacted Dragan Sladojević, a journalist from Nezavisne novina who spoke with Bumbulović. Sladojević confirmed that that media also has a recording of the conversation with Bumbulović, and that Bumbulović authorized the article before it was published on the Nezavisne.
