Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic say works are contining in the capital, and that it is slowly becoming a modern European capital.

Yesterday, as promised, the paving of the Sava Quay was completed, Vesic said, and added that the stated deadline had been September 1.

"Almost 1.3 hectares of granite slabs, stone surfaces have been installed, and these are pedestrian zones. 60 new trees and about 200 shrubs have been planted. The area from Beton Hala to Branko's Bridge, which continues on to the Sava Promenade, is now done in a way that would make no city in Europe or the world ashamed of such a space, and our fellow citizens deserve it."

In addition, the stairs leading to Karadjordjeva Street remain to be finished in the next two weeks, near the Captaincy, where items for a children's playground are arriving, as well as 40 benches, info desks, chargers for mobile phones, Vesic explained.

According to him, on September 15, this entire space will be completed.

"Then you will see how the area from Beton Hala to Branko's Bridge has been fixed up. Karadjordjeva Street is also finished, we did all the facades in this street, the quay is nearly completed. I don't think there is a part in Belgrade that speaks better to all the positive things that have been happening in recent years. It's especially important, not only for people living in Belgrade. Here, a large number of foreigners dock in cruisers and this is their first encounter with Belgrade, and it should be such that they can see all the beauty of the city as soon as they step ashore," Vesic concluded.
