High school students' software to help online learning: "We're not replacing teachers but help them"
The winning team includes Stefan Ignjatovic, Filip Milovanovic, Kristina Nikolic, Zorana Milanovic and Kosta Pavlovic
A team of students from the Technical School Kolubara in Lazarevac has won an entrepreneurial skills competition organized for Belgrade high school students with the idea of developing "intelligent personal assistant" software that would help children with online learning.
The online competition, called "Business Challenge", gathered students from 15 high schools who had the task of designing a product or service that will improve online learning.
With the help of business mentors, they created business plans and video presentations for their ideas, which they presented to the members of the jury on the second day of the competition, said a statement issued by the "Achievements of Youths in Serbia" ("Dostignuca Mladih u Srbiji), who came up with the competition.
The winning team includes Stefan Ignjatovic, Filip Milovanovic, Kristina Nikolic, Zorana Milanovic and Kosta Pavlovic, who say that their goal was to facilitate the work of teachers, but also for students to receive higher quality education.
"We are not replacing teachers, but providing them with help in the form of an 'intelligent personal assistant'," members of the winning team explained.
The second place was won by the "United School" team from the 4th Belgrade Grammar School, while the third place went to the team "EduBook" that consists of students from the Grammar School in Mladenovac.
The members of the three first-placed teams secured participation in the National Final, which will be held in February next year in Belgrade, and the winners there will participate in the "Business Challenge" of the Western Balkans along with their peers from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
The "Business Challenge" competition was launched 12 years ago with the intention of encouraging high school students in using their skills in an innovative way in order to improve their entrepreneurial spirit and increase their employment opportunities.
