Passengers arriving at the Belgrade airport from African countries that are considered risky due to Covid-19 are going through stricter controls, and Telegraf was the first to report about the tightening of these measures.

If those who come from "risk countries" are positive, they are sent to receive treatment, and if they are negative, they go into isolation under supervision, said Goran Stamenkovic, a member of the Crisis HQ and assistant minister of health for inspection affairs.

So far, there have not been any passengers under increased monitoring due to the Omicron strain of coronavirus, said Stamenkovic.

"We have, in coordination with the Batut Institute, prepared a scenario that we submitted to the minister of health and the Prime Minister's Office, in terms of stricter control and the manner of dealing with passengers in international traffic coming from risky countries," said Stamenkovic.

The list includes South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Mozambique and Malawi, and passengers from these countries will be tested at the airport, Stamenkovic added.

"The point is that each of these passengers must be identified by the Ministry of the Interior at passport control. Conditions for testing have been provided at the Nikola Tesla Airport, and everyone will have a PCR test done," Stamenkovic stressed.
