Horrific details of tragedy in National Assembly: Worker put his head in elevator shaft, pressed wrong switch

Worker employed by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia N.K. (45), who worked on water installations maintenance, was killed today in the morning hours at his workplace, while he was trying to find out why water was entering the shaft of a freight elevator used for transporting food.

The on-duty public prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade conducted the investigation at the scene.

So far, it has been established that N.K. went to the elevator and put his head into the metal construction, then pressed an elevator switch, but, most likely, the wrong one, so the elevator went in the wrong direction, as a result of which N.K. suffered fatal injuries to his head.

At the time of the accident, N.K. was alone.

Appropriate activities were taken at the scene, and the body has been sent for an autopsy.
