Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated today that glorification of Ustashas in Croatia - and the use of Ustasha slogans (equivalent to Nazi ones) that were heard during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Operation Storm and during Marko Perkovic Thompson's concert - are not a new occurence in that country.

The Ustasha regime was in power in the Nazi-allied Independent State of Croatia (NDH) during WW2.

"To bring 300,000 people to a concert that celebrates Nazism in its worst unadulterated form, such as Ustashism. There is no worse form of Nazism. There was none in Europe. This takes years of preparing the ground regarding the public opinion, years of training people to accept it, years of raising children to be like that. You saw that sad video where showing 7-8 year-olds shouting 'Za dom spremni' ('For Home Ready') holding wooden rifles and singing 'Boj na Cavoglavi' by Marko Perkovic Thompson," Vucic told TV Prva.

He stressed that Serbia must be proud of its anti-fascist past and not allow the Nazis to take over writing history and interpreting it, because the one who directs the past also largely directs the present and has a great chance of directing the future.

Speaking about the fact that the West did not react to this celebration of Ustashism, Vucic said that they are silent because Croatia is their striking fist towards Serbia and some other small countries in the region.

"They always must stop the development of Serbia and together they have to be stronger than Serbia, because if Serbia, as a disobedient country and as a proud nation, tries to raise its head in any way or stick out or economically progress faster than what is expected, it must be kept down. Those reasons are completely logical to me, it is clear to me how some can justify remaining silent tto themselves," added Vucic.

The president stressed that he is proud of the fact that he never wanted to receive the rapporteur of the European Parliament for Serbia, Tonina Picula, and that now, judging by the photos Picula is publishing (on Operation Storm anniversary, in military uniform and holding a rifle) - it is evident that he was right not to receive him.

Vucic also stated that he came under a lot of pressure because of this.

"That's why the color revolution had its own special flow and support that came from some European countries. I will remind you that the mayor of Vienna, the mayor of Ulm, Marta Kos in Brussels and all the others who received 'blockaders' (protesters from Serbia) - who they knew neither walked or rode bicycles (from Belgrade), instead they drove (to Brussels) in a van, then those last five kilometers they'd walk or ride bikes - but they did it (received them) in order to harm the legitimacy and legality of the Serbian authorities, who were not obedient enough and did not want to serve other nations' interests, but the interests of their own people," President Vucic pointed out.
