Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric assessed today that the recently signed military agreement between Croatia and Slovenia does not lead to greater trust and closer cooperation in the region.

He pointed out that this region needs new bridges of cooperation, not walls.

Djuric told RTS that nobody's right to cooperate in the field of defense is being brought into question, but that the process was not transparent or inclusive.

"We are in a region that has been through a lot in the last 30 years. The creation of additional alliances without consulting and discussing it with the neighboring countries opens up many questions and causes concern," said Marko Djuric and added that a number of other countries have also not been consulted or invited to participate.

He said that, bearing in mind what has been happening in the region for 30 years, it is necessary to transparently communicate about security issues between states and that non-transparent processes should not become the rule.

During a recent official visit of Slovenian Defense Minister Borut Sajovic to Zagreb, a military agreement between Croatia and Slovenia was signed.

The agreement covers military cooperation in the field of defense, defense industry, business and economy.
