Speaking about the work of the Serbian police, and how he is generally satisfied with it, noting at the same time that the police "wait on (anti-government) protesters hand and foot" - President Aleksandar Vucic also referred to the case of former footballer Vujadin Savic, who was allegedly a victim of extortion perpetrated by a transgender person.

"I am sorry that the police abused their position and forwarded those recordings of Savic. He turned to the police to help him, and by what they did, they could have destroyed a family," said Vucic and added:

"I am sorry that the police abused their powers and that they gave recordings and pictures all over the place, to the media, and together with the media tried to destroy a family. That man contacted the police asking for protection, not for the state (authorities) to destroy his life, and that's a problem for me as far as police action is concerned. And as for the protesters, they wait on them hand and foot," concluded Vucic.

For days, the public in Serbia has been gripped by the unfolding case involving Vujadin Savic, who reported transgender person A.K. (21) to the police for extorting him using private videos and photographs.

The affair has attracted a lot of media attention, and according to reports based on unofficial information, it has profoundly affected Savic, whose mental health has seriously deteriorated because of it and who has sought professional help.

In these difficult moments, these reports say, his common law wife actress Mirka Vasiljevic and the rest of the family "are not leaving his side, providing him with the necessary support."

Vasiljevic did not appear at the hearing at the prosecution, allegedly due to health problems.

Savic reported that A.K. allegedly demanded around 50,000 euros from him. According to the media, Savic told the prosecution that he suffered psychological torture and that he was previously, under pressure, giving A.K. money and gifts.

A. K. was arrested and will be kept in detention for 30 days to prevent her tampering the evidence.

Savic was questioned at the prosecution, where he gave a statement about the entire case. The hearing was held on October 8. A.K. has denied extortion, claiming that she and the former footballer were in a relationship.

The case continues to make waves in the public, and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect's electronic devices have been confiscated, while more witnesses are expected to be interviewed.
