Our meteorologist reports from top of best-known mountain in Serbia: You'll be surprised by what he says!

Our meteorologist Djordje Djuric is currently on the best-known mountain in Serbia, Kopaonik, and is reporting from 1,927 meters above sea level what kind of weather awaits tourists and lovers of winter sports who are planning to travel there - as well as what the weather's like in the rest of Serbia.

"We are at 1,927 meters above sea level on Mt. Kopaonik, above the tourist center. Because of the lack of snow, that ski lift is not operational, and neither is that ski slope, that's why we climbed to Peak Karaman this time.

We can see that behind me are the valleys and basins, that is, the lowlands under fog - as is most of Serbia today.

And while temperatures in the cities range only from 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, the weather on the mountain today, as well during the previous days, is spring-like," said our meteorologist.

He added in daytime temperatures on Mt. Kopaonik reach over 10 degrees, dropping to sub-zero at night.

"For these reasons, some ski slopes that are able use artificial snow. Currently, there is natural snow cover about 5 centimeters deep. Unfortunately, there is almost no snow in the lower parts of Kopaonik," said Djuric.

He noted that these weather conditions will last at least until the end of next week.

"The sky is clear above the mountains, it's foggy in the lowlands and in the cities, including Belgrade - while the return of winter is not in sight even over the next ten days," Djuric concluded, speaking from "the top of Serbia."
