KFOR denies claims missiles were launched at Iran from Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo and Metohija
NATO and KFOR - its mission in Kosovo and Metohija - on Thursday rejected allegations made on social networks that missiles were launched at Iran from Camp Bondsteel, or from other NATO facilities in Kosovo and Metohija, stressing that the alliance is not involved in the current air campaign against Iran.
"This claim is false and we completely reject it," a NATO official said in a statement.
At the same time, it was added that the KFOR mission continues to implement its mandate of contributing to a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo, based on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999.
Camp Bondsteel is the operational headquarters of KFOR and is located near the town of Urosevac, in the south-east of Kosovo and Metohija.
Regional Command East is led by the US Army and is supported by troops from Greece, Italy, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland and Turkey.
The United States and Israel attacked Iran in the morning of Saturday, March 28, in what they said were "preemptive strikes" that came after multiple rounds of negotiations about Iran's nuclear program failed.
Iran then launched massive retaliatory strikes against Israel and US-linked targets across the Middle East.
