SNS leader and presidential advisor Milos Vucevic: March Pogrom is one of the most painful memories
The leader of the ruling SNS party and Serbian president's adviser, Milos Vucevic said today on the anniversary of the start of the March Pogrom in 2004 in Kosovo and Metohija - that targeted Serbs living in that area - that his has been one of the most painful memories in the recent history of the Serbian nation.
"That's why we're strengthening the state, that's why we're strengthening the Army, that's why we're keeping the peace. There will be no more pogroms and (operation) Storms," Vucevic stated on his Instagram profile.
22 years ago, a wave of organized terror took place in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, a pogrom against Serbs in which 16 Serbs were killed, hundreds were injured, more than 4,000 were expelled from their homes, and more than 1,000 buildings, houses, churches, monasteries, including 18 cultural monuments, were demolished or destroyed.
The supposed reason for this explosion of violence was the drowning an Albanian boy in the village of Cabra, for which Albanian extremists falsely accused Serbs from the neighboring village of Zupce.
