President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic met today in Belgrade with Interpol Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza, with whom he discussed further strengthening of cooperation in combatting all forms of organized crime and security threats, that know no borders.

"We paid special attention to improving information exchange, the fight against cybercrime, financial crime, human trafficking and drug smuggling, as well as strengthening the capacity of our institutions through international police cooperation," Vucic said in a post on Instagram.

He added that he is proud of the results Serbia's security services are achieving in terms of international police cooperation, and that he is especially pleased that there is significant support from a large number of countries for Serbia to become the headquarters of Interpol's regional bureau.

"That would be an important recognition for our country and confirmation of our role in preserving regional and international security," Vucic stated.

He added that he believes that by working together, cooperation between Serbia and Interpol will be further improved to benefit the citizens and common security.

Urquiza is on an official visit to Serbia, where he on Monday met with Prime Minister Djuro Macut, as well as with Deputy PM and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dacic.
