The best example of this is the custom in Middle Ages in certain areas of Serbia and Montenegro - the host would offer his wife as a treat to the guest in his house!

- According to hospitality rules from that age, the host would, along with other treats, offer his wife to the guest while staying in the house. This custom was present in our lands, mainly in western areas of Serbia and northern parts of Montenegro and the Balkans - it is said in the book "Laws of the Vasojević tribe", written by PhD Ilija M. Jelić.

The book was published in 1929 with the support of the Serbian Royal Academy.

In it, it was also stated that this custom was preserved for a long time, and that Orthodox church had a great role in finally forbidding it.

-Christianity, religion, changes in morale, family life, and social education all had their roles in removing this custom, until it became infamous, because it damages the honor of the host - it is stated in the book.

Namely, this custom had a deep root because it was noted even in the time of Babylon.

The woman was supposed to "sexually use" the "god-like" guest because it was believed that the offspring would be more handsome and more powerful than other kids and this would be a happy omen for the family.

Today, of course, the situation is completely different and a request like this would probably result in somebody's death, and the only thing to be determined would be possible damage.

"Marital" statistics shows that in the period from 2002 up to 2015 the number of marriages in Serbia dropped.

Five marriages were made on 1000 residents, which is less than 10 years ago when this number was 6.

Number of divorced marriages remained the same and it is 1 divorced marriage on 1000 residents.
