However, even thought the "fight" for this holy place is not subsiding for years, monastery Kumanica is by far famous for its healing wonders that happened in it, and by the fact that people pray in it that are not orthodox.

But, it would be wise to say something about its history before those "miracles", which is also intriguing, because it is based on assumptions. According to a legend, Serbian nobleman, who war fleeing from Turks, left his rich estate to his godparents, who later built the monastery Kumanica. The other is connected to the St George, who allegedly built this shrine at the end of 13th and at the beginning of 14th century and that his remains rest in Kumanica. It is believed to have been Serbian educator and archbishop, and that it belonged to lineage of Nemanjic.

The only thing known is that the famous Serbian architect Aleksandar Deroko 1926 made the first draft of the church, which was found in the ruins, and after a few years it was amended by Djordje Boskovic, according to which the church was built between the 16th and 17th century.

Let's go back to the interesting facts related to the monastery Kumanica. According to the story of the people, which for centuries passed on from generation to generation, in this monastery supposedly the remains of St. Sava were based, although this information was never officially confirmed. They believe that the remains of some other saint were placed in Belgrade.

The most intriguing stories related to this monastery, of course, are the healing powers, and of them told us by Tanja, who recently visited this holy place.

- Kumanica a very small monastery, but i felt complete peace. The peace that can not be described in words. Several times I have visited, and the feeling is always the same - says Tanja, which we relayed with stories of healing, which was told by the nun from the monastery.

There are several stories, and began when a girl, who was motionless, spent the night in a monastery. The next day was followed by a miracle - she could walk!

- It is about a young girl, of the Muslim religion from Bijelo Polje. She was paralyzed and her relatives brought on a stretchers. First she spent the night on the walls of the temple ruins, and in the morning when she woke up, three priests read prayers and smeared blessed oil on her. After that, she lifted her leg - says Tanja, and confirms that in addition to "God help" in the monastery often can be heard "Inshallah."

In addition to this story, there is also a story about the shepherd Rade Ljuic from Grancarevo, who got sick six years ago, when he was watching sheep. The sickness was so serious that the doctors saw the only solution to amputate his legs. However, his mother heart about the wondrous monastery and took him there, where he spent a couple of days and he made a complete recovery.

Next time he went to the doctors, they could not believe how healthy he was.

However, this is not the end of stories about miraculous wonders of this monastery. Many couple, the ones that have fertility problems, when the fast ends, they go to Kumanica, where they read prayers. What is interesting is that, every couple got a baby after almost 9 months after reading the prayers.

The story told by nun about certain Milan Sebek is remarcable. He is well into his 90's, and with the fact that his house is more than three hours away form monastery, and he reaches it through narrow cliffs and paths, he did not want to miss any Sunday or a holiday to come to Kumanice and to thank the God.

- According to her story, when he was only at the beginning of his twenties, he was totally blind and had excruciating pain. No doctor could not help him, but because of the severity of pain at one point he wanted to commit suicide. At the last moment he was prevented by neighbors who took him to the monastery - says Tanja, and adds:

They say that a priest read him a prayer, put a book into his hands and asked him to read something. On his words that he can't see, the priest just responded: "You will see, Milan". And so it was. Milan received his sight.

Miracles never end, but we will stop here. What we forgot to mention, the monastery Kumanica was supposed to be demolished when the Belgrade - Bar railway was build. However, because of this legendary stories about it and the revolt of the believers, orthodox Christians and Muslims, they dared not touch it, so they built a railway next to it.
