His life today would be the saddest movie in the world: 18 years since the death of the legendary Perhan (VIDEO)

Today marks 18 years since the death of actor Davor Dujmovic, and we mostly remember him for his role Perhan in the film "Time of the Gypsies", but also for his roles in "Top list of Surrealists".

This fantastic actor was a great star when he was just 18 years old. Unfortunately, he has lost himself in the dark.

Davor was born in Sarajevo and he got the nickname Perhan for all times. The role which made him recognizable was given to him by pure chance.

While he was in the second grade of the lower Music school, he usually dropped at his father after school who was usually working on the market Markale.

We were poor, i had no instrument, but my mom knew the cleaning lady in school who opened the classroom at night and i practiced there - said Davor.

Emir Kusturica and his assistant came to a nearby restaurant where he stopped to get a juice. Assistant asked Davor's father if he can participate in the audition for the movie "When Father Was Away on Business", He agreed and it appeared he was perfect for the role.

After the movie "When Father Was Away on Business" he decided to go to the movie academy. He didn't succeed and he didn't try afterwards.

When he was almost 18, Davor became a lead actor in Emir Kusturica's next movie "Time of the Gypsies", after which he was declared one of the 5 best actors in Europe.

They compared him to Dustin Hoffman, but, at the beginning of the nineties, he came in touch with heroine. He tried to rehabilitate himself few times but, without success. 

In that period he said: "I wouldn't wish for what heroin brings to my words enemy. At the beginning i was a bit curious, but curiosity is payed with addiction in this case".

War struck Davor in Sarejevo and he comes to Belgrade. In that period, he made few more movies, and the most famous one is "Underground".

When the war ended, Davor went to Banja Luka, where he established Fund for the Culture of Republika Srpska, which is later named Davor Dujmovic. 

From Banja Luka he moved to Slovenia with girlfriend he lived in the last months of his life. He spent his free time with horses, he fought strong depression and alcoholism.

31 May 1999, he committed suicide by hanging in Novo Mesto. He was 30 years old.

He loved the Stones, Sting and Bob Marley.

He used to says: "I'm waiting for the Globe to calm".

He did not wait for it.
