HASHIM TACHI: Serbia will recognize Kosovo, not even Putin will prevent it!

- It is not going to happen tomorrow, but in the near future it surely will. Serbia's joining the European Union and recognition of Kosovo are closely connected - said Hashim Tachi

Kosovo's Minister of Foreign affairs Hashim Tachi stated that the threat for western Balkan is not only the growth islamic extremism but also the strong Russian influence. He noted that it is extremely difficult to host Putin at the military parade and strive for joining the European Union at the same time.

Taci also said that he is sure Serbia will soon officially recognize Kosovo as an independent state.

- It is not going to happen tomorrow, but in the near future it surely will. Serbia's joining the European Union and recognition of Kosovo are closely connected - said Hashim Tachi in his interview for APA Agency.

Tachi criticized Serbian diplomat Ivica Dacic who,at the last week's conference on Jihad in Vienna, stated how the western countries incited extremism, instead of subsiding it.

- That was surely an attempt to justify the spreading of violence and extremism 20 years ago -  he said.

He also noted that the path to independence of Kosovo is irreversible, considering that it has been recognized by 108 members of the UN and it is being accepted into international organisations month after month.

Tachi also said that during this year there will be ''ice breaking'' with several countries that did not recognize Kosovo. Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Cyprus need to accept Kosovo's independence so it could join EU and NATO.

When addressing his political career, Tachi said that his strength comes from people and that he will use it to unify citizens of Kosovo, no matter their ethnicity.''

When asked about illegal immigrants crossing into EU in waves, he expressed hope that they will cease and that EU will stop imposing visas on Kosovo citizens during this year.

- Citizens of Kosovo should be granted freedom to visit their relatives in the EU, but they should first be aware that Europe is not heaven - concluded Tachi.
