- I just signed a treaty about dissolution of the Parliament. The time is to see whether the people trust the Government; reforms are difficult, and that is why it is important that citizens should have their say. This government started a wave of reforms, and because of it they want another mandate so that they could finish them. I expect the fair and democratic process. All the state institutions will function normally. I expect the media to be correct. Last, I hope that Serbia will not abandon the path we are now on - said Nikolić.

He stated that he would like the SNS political party to win the elections, but he added that he could co-operate with any government.

- I will not be disappointed if someone else wins, may the best idea for Serbia wins.

According to the Constitution, elections should be over in no more than 60 days from today.

Beside parliament elections, on that day there will also be provincial elections.

Serbian National Assembly has 250 MP, who are elected for 4 years.

They are chosen from lists of political parties, coalitions, other political organizations, and other lists.

The mandates are divided according to the number of votes.

Only registered parties and coalitions can offer their candidates, according to the law.

In order to create a list, at least 10.000 people should support it.

One man can only support one list, and every signature needs to be delegated in the Courthouse, and the tax for this process is settled in the Ministry of Justice.

Political parties have a deadline to give the lists, and that is 15 days before the elections.

The list which is first settled will get number 1, and so on.

Along with the lists political parties are to give complete data about every candidate.

Special board of people is chosen to go through all the lists after they have given it to them and they have 24 hours to complete the process.

Radio and television agencies founded by the State are to have political timing and to present all the lists properly, without bias.

National Assembly, now out of its mandate, will continue doing only minimum jobs, settled by the law.

In case of war or state of emergency, the Assembly becomes official until these states are concluded.
