BOOKS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL HAVE NEVER BEEN SO EXPENSIVE: This is how much you should pay for the textbooks

The parents of Belgrade's pupils, for buying of textbooks, will have to set aside at least 15.000 dinars if their child is in lower grades, and for the older ones, two sets cost twice as much, more than 30.000.

In comparison to last year, when some families could receive a discount according to their earnings, these books will get only the pupils who's families receive social aid.

Single mothers won't get any discounts, who in most cases don't receive alimony, nor will the children who has one or both parents unemployed , even though they are on the pay list of Center for Social Work. It is, primary, about the families which are supported by parents, actually retired grandparents, reports "Vecernje novosti".

Besides the massive amounts and the elimination of discounts, the parents were revolted by the fact that they received the slips for paying only after the 1st May holidays, and the books have to payed off until the end of the school year. 

In order to save some money, some parents decided not to order the books via school, but to buy them on their own. The reason is, as they say, their children didn't even open some of the books, which were some of the most expensive ones in the set.

How much will the set cost depends from school to school, and the subject teacher are negotiating from which publisher will they order books. Teacher play important role in everything.
