TRAGEDY IN MONTENEGRO: Girl (5) passed away, parents gave her medicine for livestock to exterminate lice

Five year old girl E.M. from Rozaje village Besnik, died last night around 11 PM in the Clinics for children Clinical Center of Montenegro, of the consequences of poisoning with powder Etiol.

Head of Emergency in Rozaje Nermina Tahirovic said that the child was brought ten days ago to that institution accompanied by her parents.

- She was vitally endangered and was urgently transported to the Emergency Center in Berane, from where she was transferred to Podgorica. Twenty medical workers that night fought for her life - said Tahirovic.

The parents brought the bottle of the "medicine" to the ER they used to treat the lice.

- It is a product based on Etiol which is used to bathe animals when they have lice. It is on foreign language and we gave the bottle to the police - said Tahirovic who appealed to parents that in the case of lice, never to use that product and to ask for  help from doctors or pharmaceutical workers.

This is not the first time that a family tries to use some product for livestock on children. 

That allegedly happened half a year ago when little ones ended up in Department of Children's Hospital in Podgorica.

Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) in Rozaje launched  the investigation on the occasion about the poisoning of the girl with chemicals.
