BALKAN SHAKES, EPICENTER IN THE ADRIATIC SEA: A strong earthquake hit Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, people ran into the streets!

Strong earthquake, 4.8 degrees on the Richter scale, hit the area of North West Balkans.

The quake hit Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina at 13:58. The epicenter was reportedly in the Adriatic Sea at a depth of 2 km and 16 km northwest of Split, reported by Croatian media.

As announced by EMSC, earthquake was a magnitude of up to 4.8 degrees on the Richter scale.

People wrote on social media that it was a strong shake. The quake was felt in Split and in entire Dalmatia.

- It lasted very shortly but it really scared me - told one of the witnesses.

The other one said the quake was felt in Split pretty strongly, that items fell down from the shelves in his apartment.

- I was never so scared in my life from a quake. So, the entire building of the Administrative Court in split was shaking like a branch on the wind - wrote one of the people on Facebook.

- The entire building was shaking, it was not comfortable - said Mario Juric, reporter of Dnevnik of Nova TV.

The quake was felt in Brac, Omis, Makarska, Solin, Sibenik, Korcula, Hvar, Brac and Vis, the witnesses are reporting, said index.hr.

It felt so strongly in split that some apartments on higher floors recorded some material damage in broken glass objects. 

The part of the residents went out of their residential and business rooms on squares fearing of the new quake.

Split children were released from schools and police recorded few calls from the disturbed citizens, mostly elderly people. 

So far there are no reports of greater damage, nor anyone was injured.
