Mother named courage: Lidija stopped with chemotherapy to give birth to a child and she died

She was known as "mother courage", because on her 13th chemotherapy she discovered that she was pregnant, and despite of doctors telling her to have an abortion, she decided to give birth to a child

- I can't calm down, i am indescribably sadMy angel is gone, but the poor thing at least saved herself from terrible pain - said mother Marina Zecevic through tears to 24sata.hr, the mother of Lidija Zecevic, who died on Monday morning after serious illness.

Lidija felt a lump on hear breast three years ago, and then she was diagnosed with a cancerous tumorwhich grew in size in only few months.

He immediately had a surgery and doctors removed her breast. The treatment was continued the following year, when she went to 25 radiation and received 18 immunotherapies. Carcinoma withdrew, and then on 13th therapy she discovered that she was pregnant. Although her doctors advised that she should continue therapy and have an abortion, she denied that there could be a miscarriage and decided to give birth. 

- All oncologists asked for abortion. I cannot say that i was sad because the cancer returned, but i was happy for what the God was giving me. He is a miracle from God - said at the time Lidija.

She stressed that she wanted to fight for herself, her children and the change to be the mother to the just born Antonije. While she cuddled her newly born son, Lidija was in unimaginable pain due to her wound on her chest from chemotherapy she received as soon as she gave birth. At the same time she and her partner Anto fought with hard everyday life, with no work and money to survive and medications. 

- Carcinoma spread on her brain, she received 10 radiations. After that she suddenly dropped in bed. Her conditions was unchanged for a month and a half - told her mother Marina. She added that Lidija spent the last month of her life in hospital St Spirit in Zagreb, connected first on the mask with which she was breathing, and later on a respirator.

- We will transfer her to Knin, where we will bury her. She was suffering greatly, the poor thing saved herself when she died - said the mother.
