It all started with a trip to London where married couple Butkovic tried blanched sprouts in a Chinese restaurant. It was so delicious and they wanted to continue eating them in Zagreb. Micro-vegetables are increasingly present because of its quality in local cuisine and local tables. Believe it or not this type of vegetables are grown on the seventeenth floor of Zagreb skyscrapers. And while most enjoy views on the metropolis, the two entrepreneurs have turned their house into a greenhouse.

The place where Serbs are welcome in Croatia, and they seek for 10.000 workers from abroad

The 65 square meters instead, of the kitchen and the bedroom, they set up shelves for growing micro-vegetables.

- For example, the broccoli, each of these plantlets grows into adults broccoli, which you can buy on the market - says Marian Butkovic, vegetable producer.

Increasing demand for micro-vegetables

Because of its quality and nutritional values, this kind of micro-vegetables is sought after, reports Dnevnik.hr.

- It is developed and now there are up to 50 times more different effects for human health that are necessary and very good, it has up to 50 times more of these effects per gram, kilogram, than the adult plant and that is why it is important for died and they are healthy. Everything is done by feeling, there are no measurements, when you lift it up, you know if plants need water or not - said Butkovic.

To produce micro-vegetables you don't need much space nor time, for example, this broccoli was planted ten days ago and it is ready to eat now.

There are no tractors or hoes

It takes a lot of effort to make every plant the same quality.

- There are no tractors or hoes, no machines, tools or such, but it is a hard work and not anyone can do it - said Butkovic.

Urban gardens are particularly interesting to hobbyists and lovers of vegetables, and this story began as such. But later it grew into a business, which constantly evolves and expands.
