These people are fleeing. That picture of them falling out of a plane, that's modern world's defeat - said the president of Serbia

"I have nothing against refugees, if they are refugees. Regardless of where they come from," said President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, when journalists asked about the stance of Serbia regarding the issue of refugees from Afghanistan, and the story that most of them will come to Kosovo and Metohija.

"Come on, people, let's act like people. Serbia will certainly not be a parking lot for someone coming from the outside, but refugees... How can we ban entry of young people, women, children, babies? I don’t see how that can be a problem for us. These people are fleeing. That picture of them falling out of a plane, that's modern world's defeat," said the president of Serbia.

The president of Afghanistan fled his country, after which the Taliban entered Kabul and took over without a fight. They entered the presidential palace and hoisted their flag, which was followed by a mass exodus.

This happened a few weeks before the US military was to fully withdraw from Afghanistan.

Civilians began to leave the country en masse in an attempt to save their lives, and shocking photos and videos of their despair went around the world.

A distressing video emerged showing desperate Afghanis trying to lift a baby over barbed wire in a frantic attempt to escape the Taliban.

There were horrific scenes at the Kabul airport as tens of thousands of people struggled to escape the Taliban rule.

We've seen horrific videos showing a crowd of people running along a US military plane as it was moving and about to take off, some holding on to its wheels. Photos of a US plane full of people, who desperately want to escape from Kabul after the militants captured the city, have been seen around the world.

It is not known exactly how many refugees managed to leave Afghanistan together with foreign nationals. Some 20,000 Afghan refugees will be taken to Britain in the next five years after the government announced plans to help those fleeing the Taliban. North Macedonia, Croatia and Albania also said they would accept refugees. On the other hand, Austria is asking for reception centers to be set up in neighboring countries.
