Sixth Division of Infectious Diseases in Clinical Center of Serbia, where the most difficult patients suffering from AIDS are treated, is half empty. A dozen patients are lying in their rooms. Among them is Nenad L. (45), who welcomed today's World Day against HIV in his bed. The virus attacked Nenad's brain, which is why his right arm and leg are no longer of use.

WE WATCHED VANJA DISAPPEARING, SKELETON WALKED THE HOUSE: Confession of a father who's family suffered

I received the virus from a girl in 2001. In the moment we had sexual intercourse she knew she was infected and she did not tell me. Later i found out that she infected two more people. She died. Six months later i lost a lot of weight, i lost my strength and i constantly had high temperature - said for Alo Nenad.

While he waited for the results of the test, he comforted himself that he was not HIV positive. Then came the shock.

- I got my results. It was hell. I wanted to kill myself. My sister and brother-in-law barely talked me out of it. They are the only people i actually told what was going on - Nenad said through tears and adds that he told the family he has leukemia, and that is why he is often in hospital.

I never had girlfriend from that moment, i have no friends. I am in panic fear not to infect someone. I don't want any human bean to suffer as i have. Until 2013 i was a waiter in my own restaurant. I can't even work anymore. When i am not here, i am in the village, alone. And it will be like that to the rest of my life - he said.

Other patients in the division are in equally bad shape because they are in an advanced stage of the disease.

Dr Dubravka Selemovic, who is treating the sick, said for Alo that Nenad is a lonely example of getting the infection because now, HIV circulates among the generation of gay population born between 1985 and 1995.

- They are absolutely informed about everything. They test themselves, but do not use protection. They know how HIV is transmitted and received. The youngest patient was a child in the third grade of high school - says Dr. Selimovic.
