Kolinda's most scandalous statement ever: "This continuous extraction of skeletons out of the closet only leads to..."

In a great turnaround in Croatian affair "Allowances", after all that has emerged after the joint conference of Andrej Plenkovic and Chief State Prosecutor Dinka Cvitana, yesterday's statement by Croatian president Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic somewhat passed under the radar, said portal Index.hr.

A statement is, as stated in the portal, scandalous at multiple levels to say the least.

- I appeal to state institutions, in this case the State Attorney's Office to do their job - said Kolinda, reports Index.hr, saying that it would be good if she stopped there.

- Unfortunately, this continuous extracting of some sort of skeletons out of the closet leads to the erosion of public confidence in politicians and institutions. This is a case that shows that the State Attorney's Office should deal with investigations of what is happening today, and not to be constantly coming back for years and years into the past - said Grabar Kitarovic.

Portal Index.hr asks did the President want to say with this statement that the State Attorney's Office should not be dealing with suspicious cases, if they occurred in the past? The question is what should they deal with, reports the portal, adding that the president did not clarify her statement.

- For her, the irregularities that occurred in the last few years, and that lasted until a few months or weeks ago are "returning for years and years into the past." Besides revitalizing crime with this statement (which surely happened, who's to blame should be determined), Kolinda has struck into foundations of the legal state with this bizarre statement - writes Index.hr.

- What is the point of this statement? A crime is a crime only when it occurs in the present. If it is in the past, says Kolinda, it is just "constantly extracting the skeletons out of the closet" - the Croatian portal.
