This virtuous expert, Semberac by birth, wasn't low on spirits when he left Tuzla with his family before the war, after many years of working in that town, nor after floods in Semberija three years ago, when massive waters seriously damaged his museum collections and the object he raised for years with love, nurtured and showed to the curious audience. With lots of knowledge, he showed that he has the energy to start almost from the beginning, write Novosti.rs.

Museum in Velino Selo, tucked away in a beautiful garden of traditional Semberije, a place where one can see many kinds of plants whose names are written in Latin and Serbian language. Professor Milenko, apart from the basic knowledge of each plant has an interesting folk story, anecdote, fortunes and misfortunes and the evidence of its medicinal properties.

- In the yard from which this remarkable professor and a man came from, various objects which have been used for decades and centuries in the homes of Semberija, have found their place, from the looms for weaving rugs and patchwork, to the accessories. This is a great treasure trove of our cultural heritage, tradition, customs and research, and went three steps further from many university professors in the region - says academician Dragoljub Drago Mirkovic.

Fish Minders

- In the swamp Gromiželj we established the existence of fish Umbra krameri, known popularly as minders, whose evolution began 400 million years ago. When Zarko Vikic, professor of physical education, first showed it to me, i imediatelly knew it is a mud that has to be protected, which we did the following year, in the mean time, on my initiative, Institute for the Protection of the Cultural and natural heritage strongly joined, so i researched the swamp Gromizelj for several years, and over 450 vascular (higher) plants and dozens of animals species were identified, and some of them are rare, few even endangered in Europe and in the world. Those are the examples from the so called Red List of the world - said Professor Curcic proudly.

Swamp Gromizelj covers an area of over 500 hectares, and with the decision of the Ministry of Physical Planning, Civil Engineering and Ecology, it includes three levels of protection of the site Gromizelj, write Novosti.rs.
