American Vice President Mike Pence said in Podgorica that Montenegro has a leading role in the defense of stability and Safety of the Western Balkans region.

- I am grateful to you because you will be the host of the tomorrow's  Summit of the Adriatic Charter and on the leading role Montenegro has in the defense and Stability of the Western Balkans. Your bravery, especially in the phase of Russian pressure is inspiring the world and I congratulate you on that - said Pence yesterday in the evening held in his honor yesterday which was hosted by Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic in Villa Gorica.

Pence added that congratulations on the membership of Montenegro into NATO show that the United States values strong alliance and friendship.

He said he was conveying the greetings of US President Donald Trump.

- This is a tangible sign of our commitment to Montenegro as the newest member of NATO. I assure you that I am here as a proof of the fact that America has no small partners but only has strong partners. And I believe that my presence here today is only the first step - said Pens.

President of Montenegro Filip Vujanovic said that he highly values the traditional friendship between Montenegro and the United States.

- I am proud to say that Montenegro is a member of NATO and that our ally is stronger than ever. President Donald Trump said that we share common values and we will never give up on them. By strengthening these values, we will make our partnership even bigger - Vujanovic said at the evening.

Pence is the highest American official who has traveled to Montenegro in the last 100 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations. He will take part in the work of the Adriatic Charter Summit tomorrow in Podgorica.
