He urged citizens to join the rescuers in order to achieve the best results.

Mati is in the region Rafina and it is very popular among the local tourists, first of all among retired people and children who come here to camp.

26 charred bodies were found near the coast, it is suspected that people escaped the fire by running to the water, but the smoke and the flames caught up to them and they couldn't rescue themselves.

- The bodies were found on the coast, 15 meters from the sea. The police forces blocked the area. These people probably tried to escape to the sea, but the fire blocked them - the photographer of the agency ANA said.

This fire threatens to jeopardize traffic because it is located near the highway, which is why the Athens-Corinth road is closed, one of two paths to Peloponnese, and rail traffic is also interrupted.
