Around 100 parachutists performed jumps from around 4.000 meters last week on Bovec sports airport in Slovenia

According to unofficial information quoted by Slovenian media, Croatian had difficulties with the main parachute in a parachutist jump in a group of ten paratroopers , which was rejected in the air, and reserve parachute failed to open.

Pilot Damijan Cehner, from the company Aviofun, said he did not know what happened until he returned to the airport. Only then he noticed that the other paratroopers were running towards unfortunate woman lying at the airport. He said that his role was only transportation, while the rest is a matter of clubs or paratroopers who organize and order flights themselves, as it was the case here.

Horrific details of the tragedy

As the Regional Express found out from Nova Gorica Police spokesman Dean Boznik, unlucky girl already jumped in the morning, to later join the group with seven other paratroopers and to participate in the creation of the figure in the sky. After separation, the main parachute was rejected, and then there were complications with the reserve parachute. As Index found out, she fell to the airfield.

"Police Department Bovec received a notice on Sunday at 12:20 about the tragic accident at the airfield Bovec where a parachutist was killed.

It was determined that 34 year old jumped out of the plane at 12h and 14 minutes at the altitude of 4.000 meters, and few members of the group jumped with her.

After the jump, six parachutists performed a figure holding hands in a free fall from 1.500 meters. At around 1.000 meters, they released their hands and started opening parachutes, however, it didn't deploy for the tragically killed girl, and that's why she rejected the main parachute and started opening the back up one.

However, due to difficulties in opening the reserve parachute, when the tape wrapped around her body, she was unable to open the reserve parachute. The unfortunate parachutist fell on the grass surface around 12:15 in free fall on south west part of the runway and she died on the spot", said Boznik.
