Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic accused the media of spreading depression, and she now admitted what is the real situation in Croatia

- We have been standing still for far too long, and the others are overtaking us or they are moving even further away - said Grabar Kitarovic

Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic held a very sharp speech yesterday where she openly criticized the situation in Croatia. Although she didn't mention it anywhere, it is clear that Kolinda's monologue in Opatija was a sharp critique of Andrej Plenkovic and his government, writes Index.hr.

This is how much money Kuntos wanted for Dayton Agreement

Entirely unlike Croatian politicians, Grabar Kitarovic dedicated her entire speech to criticize the situation, openly admitting that Croatia is in the last place, that everybody is passing it and the state is doing nothing to change that.

- We have been standing still for far too long, and the others are overtaking us or they are moving even further away - said the president who openly pointed to all bad indicators in economy and society, N1 reported her words.

- From the start of my term, I have been pointing out economic goals. Two and a half years later, despite some positive macroeconomic indicators and trends, there are still no real results, no real activity, we are still getting along, but we can't say that something is moving. Although I can remind of some examples of the subjects and projects that are still there, that are eternal, like encouraging export and investments - said Grabar Kitarovic and she continued:

- It is also a matter of solving demographic issues, the society of knowledge, arranging and harmonizing land registry, reforming the pension and health system, reforming the slow justice system, improving the business environment, encouraging entrepreneurship - the president admitted.

WHO IS SPREADING DEPRESSION?

Kolinda held her probably the most important speech yet, according to the Croatian media, but we should recall that the media wrote about that a long time ago. But, in the time when media warned about those same things, Kolinda accused the media of spreading depression

Kolinda spoke that media is spreading the bad atmosphere. Speaking of the youth leaving and Croats emigrating, Kolinda said that it is not a secret that many young feel neglected and that they are, equally like their parents, saddened and discouraged with "very depressing and bad picture of our country which is often presented in the media", said Grabar - Kitarovic.

But, she confessed that the situation in the country is far from ideal.

CROATIA NEEDS COURAGE AND DETERMINATION

It is fairly symbolic, and she especially emphasized yesterday that Croatia needs political determination, courage and, as she said, "resistance to populist policies".

It is, however, not known whether she was referring to populist statements, for example, her euphoric sentences after the election victory, when she promised that Croatia would be among the richest countries in Europe.

The president realized that this would not be the case, at least not while Croatia is being led by politicians like those from her party.
