In one of the last authentic middle class homes, in Boulevard Kralja Aleksandra, surrounded by carefully framed yellowed pictures of her ancestors, prof. Vidosava-Vida Jankovic (96) still bears the living memory of her father Radoje Janković, Consul General in Chicago and New York (1926-1937), a confidential officer who wore medals of the Russian Emperor Nikolai Romanov, and close friend of King Aleksandar Karadjordjevic, Mihajlo Pupin, Ivo Andric, Ivan Mestrovic ...

DE PUTA MADRE: This is the most incredible man who has ever set foot in Belgrade!

In her mind is every detail about her father's collaboration with American President Roosevelt, and how her mother Natalia (born Kalmyks) on his deathbed,  reconciled Mihajlo Pupin and Nikola Tesla!

The turbulent family saga, however, starts from Rome in 1919, the time when her father was in exile after having been sentenced to 18 years in prison for taking part in defense of the convicted in Thessaloniki. In it, according to this vital woman, whose mind and intellect are not undermined, it was called - "The Thessaloniki Process".

APIS AND THESSALONIKI PROCESS

- In 1919 I was born in Rome, and quite by accident, because my father was in exile. In the midst of the Russian Revolution between 1916 and 1917, he was in Russia, but he did not get to know the Russian Emperor Nikolai Romanov, who he brought gifts to from King Aleksandar, for he was killed by the communists. I lived abroad up until my fourth year when I moved to Belgrade. Otherwise, during the "Thessaloniki process," the colonel of the Kingdom of Serbia Dragutin Dimitrijevic Apis (Prim. Away. Shot in the field of Thessaloniki) and his whole company were sentenced - some to death, some to prison ... So my father wandered abroad and I, as a child went with him, after his served shortened sentence. It is true that he was not in prison for the full 18 years, because king Aleksandar eventually pardoned  him, and not because he was a participant in the so-called assassination attempt on the king, or more precisely the regent, but because he was sent from Russia to organize some of our volunteer corps, he wrote letters to King George V, and the French President, saying that they unfairly condemned his friends - Vida begins her story for Telegraf remembering how her father was arrested immediately upon arrival from Vienna at the Zemun airport.

- After three years of his sentence, among other things, in Lepoglava and Mitrovica, he was released, and immediately from jail set for our new Consul General of Yugoslavia in Chicago. Aleksandar sent him there so he wouldn't be in the country, because he knew that my father had a habit of criticizing everything he felt was improper. So, from the age of six to almost seventeen, I was educated in America. In Chicago, I attended primary school, and in New York the whole secondary. I remember how the children of various diplomats when returning from abroad had the habit to apply for college, while they did not know when was the Battle of Kosovo. That's why I insisted that before going to college, to pass exams in national subjects in the Second Girl's High School - Vida remembers returning to details of her story of the time her father was a consul in the United States.

(WORLD EXCLUSIVE) CONFESSION OF THE FIRST INMATE FROM GOLI OTOK: This man knows all the secrets of the bloodiest place in the Balkans!

- During his time as a consul in Chicago. father began to associate with Mihajlo Pupin, who was a great benefactor and helped the eparchy. With Tesla, on the other  hand, even though he listened just like Pupin, he never became an intimate friend, because Nikola was more interested in scientific papers than companionship ...  Tesla was not sociable, but according to my mother was a great gentleman! He was very appreciative, and money meant nothing to him! Otherwise, Roosevelt's mother often called my parents, and invited them to tea, but I cannot say for sure that father talked with the Roosevelt ... What I do know is that the correspondence with Ivo Andric and Ivan Mestrovic and that latter in a letter said that he "likes to talk with my father" - said Vida stressing that Mestrovic in the 30s clearly disagreed with the king advocating and all Croatian intellectuals for an independent country!

About life under occupation, Vida says:

The meeting place for Jews in the BAJLONOVA MARKET

- Her mother Natalia (born Kalmyks) as a Jew was not taken to the fairground, because her father had forbidden her to leave the house. More specifically, although as a Jew married to a Serb she was protected, father did not want to risk it. I remember that Bajlonova market was a rallying place. Father said, "Mom, you will not leave the house" and he explained to me: "Pay attention that she does not accidentally go to the market." My mother lost 22 relatives in the Fairground and  we spent the occupation under horrible conditions!

According to Vida's, she and her father often dragged sacks of flour from Obrenovac from farmers...

Unprecedented IMAGES OF BOMBING: Here's how Hitler bombed and TOTALLY DESTROYED SERBIA! (DISTURBING VIDEO)

- As one of the most terrifying scenes she certainly remembers when some Communists (at that time there were no partisans) light a German truck on fire in Grobljanska Street (today's Roosevelt), and when they sprouted hung on Terazije - says Vida adding - I'll never forget my father's storytelling of how he saw those German women from the military sitting at Hotel "Moscow" in uniforms and eat ice cream, while people hung suspended!

Allied bombing on April 12, '44, I remember as worse than the German.

Russian-Serbian conference in Belgrade: Day of victory over Hitler's civilization heritage!

- It was awful! Allied bombs nailed people to the wall, and from the force of the explosion, clothing would fall from their bodies. In October, the Russian army came and then Americans no longer attacked. Our street was freed on October 23rd, and on Terazije they danced October 20th. It lasted longer because the Germans defended Kalemegdan and shot Jevremova, Jovanova, and Strahinjića Bana ... They had not yet liberated the city center, and my mom and I decided not to stay alone in our house I Jovanova 75, but to go to friends' further down in Jovanova 33, close to Kalemegdan. And our house was built in 1898, constantly required some repairs ... She was even built by one of the earliest Serbian architects, famous Kapetanovic. Even during the war, I was employed in the Tanjug news agency where  I worked until 1951.

WHAT DID NIKOLA TESLA TELL MIHAJLO PUPIN BEFORE HIS DEATH?

From real epic stories, we beg Vidosava to, in particular, describe in detail how her mother Natalia reconciled Mihajlo Pupin and Nikola Tesla, who quarreled after Pupin confirmed that Marconi had primacy in the discovery of wireless telegraphy.

- It is true that Pupin claimed that Marconi was the first to register the patent, however, Tesla could not forgive Pupin, and they hadn't spoken since then - Vida explains, continuing the story of how it happened that her mother Natalia reconciled these two great minds!

According to Vida's words, relaying Pupin's desire, Natalya waited patiently for Tesla's decision as he walked back and forth across the chamber with his hands crossed on his back:

- He had a serious expression on his face and his head bowed, and as the minutes went by my mother spoke : "I know that you, Mr. Tesla will not refuse the request  of a lady." Tesla nodded and replied: "Let's go." They hurriedly entered the taxi that was waiting outside. On their way, in the street Brodvej, and during the ride, my mother came up with the idea to ask Tesla to wait in the car while they stop by our house to take something. From the apartment she took a bag with supplies of sweets, a jar with orange peel that Pupin especially liked - remembers Jankovic, adding that in the lobby by the patient rooms were Pupin 's daughter Vava, his secretary Kajganovic and nurses.

- My mother quickly on a small tray presented sweet, sought water from nurses and so set in our tradition, brought refreshments into Pupin's room. Tesla came in with her. She accosted Pupin: " Here, Professor, I brought you a little sweet that you like, and here is  Mr. Tesla to visit you." While she served Pupin, she noticed tears on his cheeks, and Tesla's eyes also narrowed. After this traditional Serbian serving as an introduction to this meeting of reconciliation, my mom left the room, leaving Tesla and Pupin by themselves. The two of them stayed together for half an hour, and what they said to each other, will forever remain secret. Shortly after this encounter, Pupin died - ends her story Telegraf Vida, with whom we parted with one question, that in getting to know  logically impose : "How does she manage to think clearly at the age of 96 and is she interested in" new social culture ?"

- I'm at the age when I have a clearly defined sense of what I like and what I do not like! I can thank genetics for my longevity. My mother remembered phone numbers better than anyone of us at age 92. As for the connection with the "new time ", it rarely interests me ... I like to watch  the "History" channels - Vida honestly responds to our questions, leaving us wondering what other people in the world can boast with such a life story.
