One of the most complex orthopedic surgeries was performed on Saturday in a Special hospital of St. Catherine's Hospital in Croatia, it was performed on the legs of a child suffering from brittle bones disease, and the surgery, which was aired live, was monitored by 60 doctors and students from 10 states of the world.

The surgery was carried out under the guidance of prof. Dr. Darko Anticević and Dr. Zeljko Jelec.

The mother of the child who went under the surgery, Ala Rotar from Russia, said she trusted the child with the doctors of the Special St. Catherine's Hospital, after certain difficulties in treatment in Germany and Israel. She thanked everyone in Croatia, especially prof. Dr. Darko Anticevic, D. Zeljkok Jelec, and prof. Dr. Dragan Primorac and the health staff of the Special St. Catherine's Hospital, the statement said.

It was necessary to remove the existing implants because of the deformity of the right leg after the previous surgery, to correct the deformity, and to fix the bone for implanting a suitable telescopic screw that stabilizes the bone and which is fixed to the extremities. 

In the meantime, there was a "St. Catherine's Hospital Symposium on Advanced Orthopedic Treatment of Osteogenesis Imperfecta " during the whole day in St. Catherine's Hospital. Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a genetic disease associated with frequent bone fractures, low growth, disorders and bad hearing, and numerous complications that can affect almost all organ systems.

Prof. Dr. Darko Anticevic, one of the most famous European children's orthopedic and president of the European Children's Orthopedic Society, announced new opportunities in treating the sick.
